| 110 militancy incidents in less than a month | | | Jammu, Apr 29 The level of militancy has shot up in the past one month in Jammu and Kashmir, with 110 incidents reported since the setting up of a troops withdrawal panel headed by Defence Minister A K Antony. Intelligence officials here said "110 militancy-related incidents have taken place in which 67 people, including 40 militants, were killed since March 30 after consitution of the troops withdrawal committee by the Centre on March 30". They said 6 security force personnel and 21 civilians were among the 67 people killed while 32 militants were arrested and 29 surrendered before the troops in the period. As per available statistics, 198 people, including 105 militants, were killed in 302 militancy incidents in the state between January and April 25 this year. Of the 198, 105 were militants, 59 civilians and 37 security force and police personnel, they said. |
