| Baglihar hydel project to be completed by December | | | Jammu, Apr 29 The 450-mw Baglihar hydel project on Chenab river in Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir is expected to be completed by December. State power ministry officials said here that 76 per cent civil and hydro mechanical works and 94 per cent electro mechanical works of the megaproject have been completed and scheduled date of its completion is December 2007.
They said the Geological Survey of India had conducted preliminary studies in Puga valley to determine the geothermal power potential in the area. "The detailed reports are with GSI and not with the state government," they said.
They said there was no proposal with the government for development of geothermal energy in Chhumathang, Panamik and Rangdo.
The sanctioned cost of rural electricifation schemes for 12 districts, except Leh and Kargil, was Rs 1100.13 crore and the total amount of funds released till date was Rs 550 crore by the Central government, they said.
A project under the scheme for Leh circle had been approved in principle in December 2006 at an estimated cost of Rs 48.73 crore.
The approved outlay for 2006-07 under the scheme was Rs 200 crore out of which Rs 141.5 crore was released by the Cenrte, they added.
