| Lifting of ban from Al Rasheed Trust in Pak raises brows in J&K | | one step forward another back | |
Sanjay Khajuria Jammu April 29 When state and central politicians including the host union government are busy in counting upon success of the 3rd Round Table Conference aimed to restore peace in Kashmir just then Pakistani establishment has bowled a bouncer, shocking one and all by lifting the ban from the Al Rasheed Trust. This trust is reported to have close connections with the Jeish-e-Mohammed, one of the most dangerous terror groups operating in both India and Pakistan. It is to mention that United States after the emergence of terror on US soil had promptly banned many organizations allegedly suspected for funding the terrorism all across the world including AL Rasheed Trust for its alleged nexus with ‘terror machines’ by funding them. The State Bank of Pakistan too had frozen the assets of the trust in 2001. But what is more concerning and shocking is the reports of US Treasury Department that has accused the trust for having its active links with militant outfits like Jeish-e-Mohammed which is active in Jammu and Kashmir since the inception of militancy. Expressing concerns over this Adarsh Kumar of Govt Quarters, Amar Singh Ahahta Kachi Chowni, when asked about his reaction simply said, “Indian leadership needs to comprehend and to logically go through the offerings from Pakistan and its perpetrators instead of succumbing to their legitimate or illegitimate demand. As the news reports have pinpointed that US Agencies had suspected the said Trust’s links with Jeish-e-Mohammed, then JeM may have reasons to smile but others have to be prepared for worst, he stressed. He said why PDP and its likeminded parties stress for India to low down while Pak has always kept its neck high during all talks or secretary level meets. The decision for lifting ban from the Trust accused of nexus with terrorist outfits like Jeish-e-Mohammed also questionable as it rocked the world just when the State and union leaders were sitting across the tables to take up Kashmir Issue, he said and added that it evidently shows that Pak has something else in its mind and India’s initiates wouldn’t make it happy. While state president Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Ashok Khajuria also apprehended if this is so then terror in the sub continent will see another dawn. Disparaging upon the two pronged policies adopted by Pakistan, Khajuria said that it a well planned strategy, first to ban the said organization under pressure and to get economic and defence packages from US and when the things get normal, the ban is lifted. While Ashok Gupta general secretary Shiv Sena (J&K), also hummed the same tune and said it is just like one step forward and two steps back- Pak has adopted the policy for pretty long time. Apart from ‘proxy-war’ it has opened door for talks with India under the pressure of international forum at the same time it is without any hindrance is posing itself a mentor to the militant outfits, he said. This lifting of ban from an organization having nexus with terrorism shows how serious the Pak authorities are to resolve the Kashmir issue, he added. He also feared perhaps the militants are looking for lifing of this ban as the financial crunch/restraints have checked their activities and this is what many of them were awaiting to trace their root and encourage their reinforcement.
