| Industrialists flay power tariff hike | | |
Jammu | April 29— Federation of Industries (FOI) has flayed the power tariff hike by the J&K State Electricity regulatory commission. Addressing media persons, Rajesh Jain, chairman of Federation Industries said that with the increase in power tariff the industrial sector has been affected most. He further said that the SERC has actually hiked power tariff for all sets of consumers. General public consumers appear not to be aware of hidden implications of the various clauses towards the exact quantum of increase. Adding to it he said that the industrial sector is 100 % metered sector and is best paymaster on regular basis and it is the only sector which consumes power to create employment opportunities. He alleged that the manner in which SERC has approved power hike reflects its favoritism and bias towards PDD and PDD has absolutely based its projections through incorrect and grossly fabricated tabulations. He said that SERC has failed to fully utilize the available forum of State Advisory Committee for purposeful deliberations to arrive at a mutually acceptable hike in power tariff for various sets of consumers. He also added that the aim of both the state and the central Government is to take effectives steps for rapid industrial growth. Others present on this occasion were Romesh Badyal co- chairman FOI, Kuldeep Dogra, President SSIA , Digiana and Anil Suri, co –chairman FOI .
