| Protest over blasphemy rock Baramulla | | | Baramulla, August 7 Protests rock Baramulla Township of north Kashmir, when people notice Quaranic verses printed on Football which was allegedly being sold in the market.
Reports reaching here, revealed that youth of the area went to purchase a foot ball from a local sports shopkeeper this afternoon and were shocked to see ‘Kalima’ printed on the football and they immediately brought it to the notice of other shopkeepers.
As per the reports the news spread like wild fire and a large number of people gathered out side the sports shop.
When it was confirmed that the shopkeeper had number of other such footballs for the sale purposes, the people objected and stage a protest demonstration shouting slogans against America. People allege that it was a deliberate attempt to heart the religious sentiments of the Muslims who can even die for withholding the sanctity of ‘Kalima’.
When contacted SHO Baramulla, Bashir Ahmad told News Agency of Kashmir that when police was informed about the matter a special team was immediately deputed in the area which seized all the such footballs available in the market.
He confirmed that the football which started the controversy as ‘Kalima’ printed on it. “The manufacturer of the football has printed National flags of many countries which included Soudia Arabia” he said adding on question that the shopkeeper has claimed the consignment was sent by Jallahander based company.
He added legal action was taken against the shopkeeper and the manufacturer of the football.
