JAMMU, Aug 22: Government SRML Higher Secondary School clinched the under-19 boys' basketball title in the inter-school competitions of Jammu district, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at MA Stadium, here today.
In the final, SRML defeated KC Public School (18-17) by a wafer thin margin. Nirbhay and Sourav remained top scorers.
Earlier, in the semifinals, KC Public beat JP World School 25-19 while SRML outplayed MHAC Nagbani 1911. Matches officiated by Vishal, Vaneet, Rajesh Bandral, Amit Kalisi and Dheeraj.
HOCKEY: The boys' under-19 hockey title went to SOS Higher Secondary School after they defeated Government Higher Secondary School Gole Gujral 3-0. Balmeet and Parvinder scored two and one goal respectively.
SOFTBALL: Government Higher Secondary School Domana emerged winner in boys' under-19 softball final. In the title clash, GHSS Domana defeated BSF School Paloura 8-5 homes.
HANDBALL: In under-19 boys' handball final, BSF School Paloura emerged winner outplaying GHSS Bahu Fort 9-4. Sahil Sharma and Sahil Matto were main contributors to the team's score. Earlier, in the semifinals, BSF School beat SRML HSS 6-2. Matches officiated by Harcharan Singh, Sanjay, Gourav, Chander Shakher, Arti and Kartar Dogra.
FENCING: Dhruv of MHAC Nagbani and Ravi Sharma of Government HSS Gandhi Nagar secured gold in Foil and Epee events of under-19 boys fencing competition held at DBN School Talab Tillo. The Detailed Results: Foil: Ravi Sharma, GHSS Gandhi Nagar, Ist; Teja Singh, BSF Paloura, 2nd; Shubham Sharma of Shangrilla HSS and Shubham Sharma, DPS, joint 3rd. Epee: Dhruv, MHAC Nagbani, Ist; Ramandeep, Jammu Public School, 2nd; Harshit Singh, APS Kaluchak and Arun Kumar, GHSS Gho Manhasan, joint 3rd. Rajinder Choudhary, Anthony Matto, Abdul Qadir, Shefali and Tony Matoo officiated the competition.
FOOTBALL: Army Public School (APS) Miran Sahib and MHAC Nagbani were among winners in the preliminary round of the under-19 boys' football competition held at GGM Science College ground, here today. The Detailed Results: APS Miran Sahib bt GD Goenka 2-1 (Ajay and Abhishek were scorers); MHAC Nagbani bt KC International 3-0 (Kanav Chib and Suraj Tickoo were the scorers); DBN (Amar Billa) bt KC Public 2-0 (Ishan Gupta scored both the goals); DBN (Mubarak Mandi) bt Oriental Academy 4-3 (Rohit and Karan were scorers). |
