| Governor, CM greet people on Buddha Purnima | | | JAMMU, MAY 01 Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd.) S. K. Sinha has greeted the people of Jammu and Kashmir on Buddha Purnima. In a message, the Governor emphasized that the teachings of Lord Buddha, who all his life stood for peace, harmony and non-violence, have immense relevance in the present day world when violence is taking high toll of humanity. The message of Lord Buddha traversed the world around crossing the boundaries of regions binding people together in the bonds of amity and tranquility, he said, adding that the apostle of peace craved for a world devoid of tension and hatred. The Governor hoped that the teachings of Lord Buddha would inspire all to follow the path of non-violence for creating a better world to live in. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has also felicitated people especially Buddhists brethren on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima. Chief Minister said that Mahatma Buddha was epitome of non-violence, tolerance and amity and these principles would continue to be guiding factors in our day-to-day life as all great religions have preached mutual brotherhood and inculcation of human values. Mr. Azad hoped that this auspicious day would be harbinger of peace and prosperity for the state
