| Jora conducts hectic tour of Samba, Kathua, reviews power scenario | | | KATHUA, MAY 01 In an effort to improve the power position in Kathua district, Minister for Power, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora conducted a hectic tour of Kathua and reviewed the whole scenario in the district. . Minister took stock of the power position with PDD officers and district administration at a meeting held here at conference Hall of DC office, Kathua today. District Development Commissioner, Kathua, Ms Sarita Chauhan, SSP. S. J.P. Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Mr. Laj Ram, Chief Engineer( S.&.O), Mr. R. K. Sethi, Chief Engineers, Mechanical, Mr. G.S. Powar, Superintending Engineer, Mr. Ajay Gupta, District PDD functionaries and other district officers attended the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Jora directed the PDD authorities to cover more and more consumers for registration and mobilize them for installation of Electronic meters and for this purpose involve NGOs and prominent citizens of the area to create awareness regarding the uses of meters. Mr. Jora issued stringent instructions to the engineers for carrying on the drive to check the power pilferage by discouraging illegal connections and registering more and more consumers with the department. Regarding the revenue realization the minister said that any lapse would be seriously viewed and the concerned officers would be held sole responsible for the losses incurred. Warning those indulged, in Power; pilferage in connivance with the departmental functionaries’ punitive action as warranted under rules shall be taken, he said. The minister further directed that those indulging in hooking and masked consumption of electricity be it for ACs or other purpose apart from legal action, the power supply to them would be stopped immediately. He came down heavily on the interference in the departmental functioning by influential persons and said that we do not succumb to any pressure. Mr. Jora directed the PDD engineers to complete the under construction 33/11 KV receiving stations so as to mitigate the power crises. Earlier the minister visited Samba and reviewed the augmentation of 1x50 MVA Grid station Samba to 2x50 MVA capacity. The total cost of the scheme is Rs. 593.40 lakhs and Rs. 54.87 lakhs have been spent on the scheme up to March, 2007 and is likely be completed up to December, 2007 and will benefit Industrial area Samba, Samba tower and adjoining area. The minister accompanied by MLA Hiranagar, Mr. Girdhari Lal also inspected 132 KV Grid station and 66/33 KV Grid stations at Hiranagar and visited Grid station at Hatli More Kathua and took stock of its functioning with engineers of the PDD department and directed them to improve the power supply. On his way to Kathua, the minister met with various deputations and listened their problems and directed the PDD Officers to look in to them on priority. The deputation of Kandi belt met the minister at Hiranagar and demanded improvement of electric supply and demanded for installation of more High capacity transformers. It was apprised in the meeting that in Sub transmission division III, Kathua under APDRP, 8 new sub stations are being constructed 16/11 and 33/11 KV level at Hatlimore-II, Barnoti, Rajbagh, Hirnagar-II, Nichla, Chakra, Baggan and marta Nagrota, besides these 9 number sub stations are under the process of augmentation. Total cost involved for construction of sub stations is Rs. 790 lakhs and for augmentation is Rs. 551 lakhs. Besides under REC S-I scheme new sub stations is being commissioned at Nanan, Paharpur and Sherpur at a cost of Rs. 477 lakhs. It was also apprised that in M& RE division, Kathua 461 Nos. sub-stations of various capacities are being constructed at Rs. 599.20 lakh under APDRP out of which 209 sub stations have been completed at a cost of Rs. 303.34 lakhs. Under Augmentation, 370 sub stations at a cost of Rs. 259.63 lakhs are proposed out of which 262 sub stations have been augmented at a cost of Rs. 221.63 lakhs. New 11 KV lines of 320 KM length and LT lines of 240 KMs length are to be laid out of which 131.50KMS of HT lines and 112.81 KMS of LT lines have been laid at a cost of Rs. 478 lakhs besides this replacement of damaged HT and LT polls and thickening of conductor is proposed. 37475 single phase and 3478 three-phase meters are to be installed under APDRP.
