CRPF jawan opens indiscriminate firing, injures two

Two employees of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department were injured in a firing incident on the outskirts of Jammu city around midnight on Tuesday after a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan posted inside high security Kot Bhalwal jail opened fire on them minutes after escaping from the jail premises along with his self loaded Rifle (SLR).
A high alert has been sounded in the entire Jammu city along with Railway station,bus station and crowded market places as the CRPF jawan was believed to be under the influence of intoxication.
Inspector General, CRPF Jammu range JC Dabas said that several teams of CRPF with help from Jammu police are on the look out for the CRPF jawan. Giving details of the firing incident inside the jail premises, Dabas said that "around midnight a CRPF jawan Dukohao Dimgel of 26 batallion hailing from Manipur reportedly had a tiff with one of his fellow jawans inside their barracks located in the Kot Bhalwal jail premises while they were watching a television programme". He said without wasting much time the jawan under the infulence of intoxication opened firing in the air and fled from the scene.
According to senior CRPF officials, Dimgel opened indiscriminate firing while fleecing out of the high security jail and later injured two PHE employees when they refused to pay him money demanded by him.
CRPF officials said that an alert has been sounded and all nakas have been alerted to immediately capture the CRPF jawan so as to avoid another incident of accidental fire. The injured have been identified as Sukhdev Singh Daily-wager and Sham Lal Pump operator. They were both rushed to a government medical college hospital and were undergoing medical treatment, Dabas said.
