Jammu May 2
National Conference patron and former chief minister of state, Farooq Abdullah referring to the inflexible and obdurate stand of hardliner Sayeed Ali Shaha Geelani today suggested him to create space for accommodating the ongoing peace process.
It is high time to be the part of the peace process and initiatives undertaken for the restoration of peace and normalcy in the state, Farooq asserted.
National Conference patron Farooq Abdullah, is seen more active in the state politics while referring to the integrity of Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani, said ‘he (Geelani) is such a person you can’t bend him by serving all the wealth to him, thus I have due respect and regard for him and appealed to him to soften his stand a bit.’
Farooq, who was a chief guest on a memorial occasion to mark the 10th Death anniversary of G N Goni, eminent Urdu literary personality and father of Aslam Goni, senior NC leader and ex advocate general said, “When Pakistan has bent so low and has shunned the demand of plebiscite, Geelani and like minded people should also eschew it for the sake of the humanity and cause of people of state who have witnessed over a decade of violence and bloodshed.”
Surprisingly, Farooq referring to annexation of State with India said our predecessors had shown their inclination towards India for reasons better known to them and added that the replies to the questions whether their bent towards India has been justified or not is vital and of more significance at this juncture.
At the same time without targeting any particular party or individual, he pointed out that during the ‘Poll Times’ many political parties churn out religious sentiment as the best vote card to bank upon and exhorted all to refrain from involving religion with politics.
Earlier, National Conference patron Farooq Abdullah paid rich floral tributes to the late G N Goni, eminent social worker and Urdu luminary of Bhaderwah on his 10th death anniversary in a function organized at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu. Aslam Goni, senior NC leader and Ashok Khajuria state president BJP shared the dais with the chief guest and in their tributal address paid homage to the great scholar of Urdu. Provincial president National Conference Ajay Sadhotra, Syed Mustaq Bhukhari MLA and other senior NC leaders along with prominent citizens were present in this memorial ceremony organized toady.
