| Religious congregation held at Lor Devta | | |
Poonch | May 2 Lor-Devta, a sacred religious place in the valley of Krishna Ghati nearly 30 Kms from town of Poonch was visited by about 5000 pilgrims on the eve of Budh-Purnima here today. The shrine is very ancient and has been mentioned in ‘Rajtarangini’, a book written by Pandit Kalhan. It is said that Pandavas during their exile visited this place. Being an annual event a big mela was organized by the 2/8- Gorkha Rifles. Lor-Devta Managing Committee is organizing the annual fair at the holy shrine. Devotees from Rajouri, Poonch, Mendhar, Surankot and adjacent villages visited the shrine. The shrine is adjacent to Baba Garib Dass temple. In pursuance of fostering brotherhood and spreading goodwill as part of Op.Sadbhavana, the Army provided refreshments enroute to the shrine. The medical staff was also positioned to provide medical aid to the needy and large number of visitors to the Shrine are a testimony to the bonhomie that exists between the Army and the civil populace and the sense of security among them. Krishna Ghati Brigade has endeavoured to transform the lives of the populace of the region and the normalcy in the area has been welcomed by every one and this has earned goodwill for the Army.
