Tendulkar injured during practice
5/3/2007 12:21:03 AM

KOLKATA, MAY 2
Sachin Tendulkar injured his right ankle during the first day of the conditioning camp for the Bangladesh-bound Indian team here today.

Tendulkar twisted his right ankle while negotiating a bouncer from S Sreesanth during the practice in the afternoon at the Eden Gardens.

The master batsman was attended to by team physio John Gloster on the field and limped out to the dressing room after some initial treatment.

The extent of the injury and other details are awaited.

Tendulkar, who along with Sourav Ganguly, has been rested from the one-day squad, is part of the team for the two Test matches against Bangladesh to be played in the later half of the tour. The first Test is scheduled from May 18.

Cricket Association of Bengal sources later said the injury to Tendulkar was "nothing serious" and "just an ankle sprain".

The Mumbai batsman's affected ankle has been treated with an ice pack, CAB sources said.

The sources, however, refused to comment whether Tendulkar would be able to join the camp tomorrow.
