| Jora inaugurates 6.3 MVA, 33/11 receiving station at Malhori Jagir | | Ask consumers to use power judiciously | |
JAMMU, MAY 03 Minister for Power Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora today inaugurated 6.3 MVA, 33/11 KV receiving station at Malhori Jagir here. The receiving station constructed by Power Development Department at a cost of Rs. 195.30 lakh. MLA Nagrota Mr. Jugal Kishore Sharma, Chief Engineer M&RE Mr. D. S. Pawar, Chief Engineer System Operations Mr. R. K. Seli, Chief Engineer Commercial & Survey Mr. A. R. Tak and other senior engineers of Power Development Department were also accompanied the Minister. After inaugurating receiving station, Mr. Jora said that on the construction of 6.3 MVA receiving station, a long pending demand of the people of Malhori Jagir, Chek, Pargalta, Bain Bajalta, Athem, Totan-de-Khoi, Kana Chadgal, Sail Jagir, Koper, Marain, Toon, Chalin, Pangal, Mela, Sandhori and its adjoining villages are benefited. He said that the people of these areas have been facing acute power shortage and low voltage problems besides power cuts in long hours. He stated that with the commissioning of receiving station Malhori Jagir the voltage would be improved and power failure would be reduced. He said that stable power supply would enhance the agriculture output resulting in over all development of the area, which is bound to boost the economy. He said that 2 number 11 KV feeders have been proposed to emanate from Malhori-Jagir receiving station. At present one 11 KV feeder stands completed and benefited about 11000 population. Minister appealed the people to use power judiciously. He said that public representatives in rural areas could play an important role in motivati9ng public for giving power tariff and getting their household metered. He stated that the present government is charging lowest power tariff as compared to other states of the country. He asked the engineers to remain present their areas and work with zeal and dedication and come to the expectations of all sections of the society. He said that the coalition government is committed to provide all basic amenities to the people of all the three regions of the state. Mr. Jora giving details of the losses being incurred by the state every year, he said that against over Rs. 16 crore spent on purchasing electricity last year, department could get only Rs. 438 crore. He said these yearly losses are pushing the state towards a power crisis situation adding that people have realize the requirement and come forward to cooperate with government in its efforts to improve power scenario in the state. Later, the Minister convened an officers meeting of Power Development Department to review the functioning of the department. He asked the engineers of PDD to cover more and more consumers for registration and mobilize them for installation of electronic meters and for this purpose he directed the officers to create awareness regarding the uses of meters in their respective areas. He warned the officers that their performance are being evaluate and any official failing in his duties would be have to face the action.
