GM India launches Chevorlet Spark
5/3/2007 11:59:41 PM

Jammu | May 3—
General Motors India today launched the much-awaited Chevrolet Spark at a function organized at FORTUNE INN RIVEIRA which was presided over by P. Balendran, Vice President, GM India.
The Chevrolet Spark is the worlds newest generation compact city car. It sets a new standard for its segment through its modern design, clever space utilization, affordably and solid engineering,” said Balendran.
“Last year we began construction of a new manufacturing facility and introduced three new Chevrolet products- the Aveo, the SRV and the Aveo U-VA. We are keeping up the momentum this year with the introduction of the Chevrolet Spark, which gives Gm an entry into India’s predominant market segment,” he added. He further said Spark is one of the world’s most popular mini-cars. Since its launch in 1998, about 2 million have been sold in well over 1002 markets. “Evolution not revolution” was therefore the motto for the team designing the new generation Spark.
Although its modern, dynamic styling makes the Spark look more grown up than ever before, it has retained the “Smilling face” of the previous generation. Its large round headlamps with integrated indicators are complemented by strikingly large circular tail lamps. The Chevrolet Spark comes with a three-year / 100,000-Km standard warranty, which is an industry first in the mini-car segment, and a service interval of 5,000 Km or six months (whichever comes first). Due to capacity constraints, the Spark will initially be available only in India’s northern and western markets. It will be rolled out in other markets over a period of 90 days. Others who were present include Ashutosh, GM (Production) and Raju Choudhary, MD K.C. Motors.
