| Revival of NC-BJP ties has clearly demarcated J&K's political battlelines: PDP | | | Srinagar , May 4 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the announcement of the National Conference (NC) Patron, Dr Farooq Abdullah on reviving his party's alliance with the BJP has clearly demarcated the political battlelines in the State. In a statement issued here today, a PDP spokesman said that Dr Abdullah at a function in Jammu on Tuesday, where BJP state President, Mr Ashok Khajuria was also present, talked of reviving his party's alliance with the BJP, if the party (BJP) leadership cooperated with him. "Dr Abdullah's statement of realigning with the BJP assumes significance in view of his latest proclamation to lead the wilting NC himself in the upcoming important state assembly elections," the spokesman said. The PDP spokesman pointed out that although NC had always kept its options of realigning with the BJP open by actively campaigning for the NDA allies in Punjab and Haryana assembly elections, but in an effort to grab power in Jammu & Kashmir, the party, during the past five years, utilized all the apparent and concealed resources to destabilize the Coalition Government in the State. "The party didn't even shy away from cashing in on the principled stand of PDP over the reduction of troops and revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) to grab power," he said and added that NC President, Mr Omar Abdullah stated on record that his party is keeping all the options open if PDP pulls out of the Coalition Government over the withdrawal of troops and revocation of AFSPA. The PDP spokesman said the latest statement of NC Patron of reopening its alliance with the BJP is nothing new or surprising, as it is completely in line with the party's age-old tradition of going to any extent for power. He said the NC leadership must make its stand clear on the fundamental issues concerning the fate and future of the people of Jammu & Kashmir, as playing the politics of double-speak and double-standards would not only further complicate the State's political problems but also harm its interests. The spokesman said Dr Abdullah's declaration of aligning with the BJP has come at a crucial stage when the State is headed for a very important assembly election and the forces working for the peaceful and final resolution of the Kashmir issue are gaining strength. He said the resolution of the Kashmir problem had started receiving the actual attention only after NC was thrown out of the power, and the party is now once again trying to play a spoiler of the resolution process to save itself from another defeat.
