Hurriyat creating hurdles in peace process: Peerzada
5/5/2007 11:33:42 PM

Srinagar, May 05
Criticizing Hurriyat for staying out from the Roundtable Conference, PCC president and Minister for Education, Hajj and Auqaf , Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed today accused it of creating hurdles in the peace process initiated by central leadership for restoring ever lasting peace in the state.

Addressing a series of massive public gatherings at Wialloo, Bitter and Hillar Arhama during his day long tour of Kokarnag constituency, Minister said that Hurriyat leadership is bent upon to scuttle the peace process ignoring the mandate of people who want to give peace a chance in the state. He said by boycotting the Conference they have done a political blunder and injustice to the people.

Peerzada further said that separatists are yet to come in terms with the aspirations of the people who want to see the state to embark upon the path of development and prosperity. "People are no more sacred of the gun which has already taken a heavy toll of innocent lives" Peerzada said adding "They have seen a lot of blood and destruction now want to lead a dignified life".

Referring to the increased political activities being witnessed in the state for the last four years, Peerzada said "the era of death and destruction is over and permanent peace would soon dawn in the state" He said gun culture which made thousand of children orphan and women widow is on its fag end.

Asserting that peace process initiated by central leadership is going in right direction, Minister said Congress has a long reputation of settling the issue through dialogue like the way it did in Punjab, Mizoram and Assam. He said, "The day is not far away when the chapter of violence would be closed for ever in Jammu and Kashmir".
