| Gupta demands implementation of amnesty scheme | | |

President Tax Bar Association, Rattan Lal Gupta, has expressed concern over the inordinate delay in implementing amnesty scheme for the dealers, even after the assurance given by the Finance Minister on the floor of House in the last Budget session.
In a statement issued here today, Gupta said that with the implementation of the amnesty scheme a large number of dealers would be benefited and help in recovery of old arrears of sales tax.
He said that while traders and tax advocates have extended full cooperation in the implementation of the VAT Act in the state but regretted that the demands put forth by the traders during their meetings with the authorities including the Commissioner of Commercial Taxes are yet to be conceded.
He said since VAT system is a new concept of taxation, no penalty should be imposed on the dealers till they get fully acquainted with the new law.
