Several opposition parties hold protest demonstration,

The activists of several opposition parties today held a massive protest demonstration in Bhaderwah town, the home constituency of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and raised slogans against the district administration and the Chief Minister for their failure in keeping up their promises.
In the morning the workers of different political parties assembled in the Seeri Bazar, Bhaderwah, where from they took out a procession, which after passing through the various streets, culminated near Lakshmi Naryan Chowk, where it was addressed by the various political leaders, included senior citizens.
The protest demonstration was held under the banner of the All Political Parties included BJP, NC, CPI, Zila Vikas Party and some social organizations. The speakers strongly criticized Chief Minister for befooling the common masses on the name of development and making the state corruption free. They alleged that the promises made by the Azad with the citizens of his home constituency have not been fulfilled till date and the development works have come to a grinding halt due to ‘inefficient and corrupt officials’ appointed by the CM in his constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, the senior BJP leader Dharenter Singh alleged that ‘some officers are harassing the common man on the name of development and are looting the state exchequer with out any fear and it is doubted that Azad is also getting the share’ .He also added that the situation of the roads and lanes in the town is in deteriorating condition and no one is paying heed towards it.
Abdul Hafeez Wani, District President Zila Vikas Party, who also addressed the protestors, blamed PWD for ignoring the developmental works in the town. He said when Azad took over as CM, he had promised that the construction of the Bhaderwah campus will be taken in triple shifts, but regretted that no work even in the single shift has been taken up, despite lapse of over one and a half year. He also criticized CM for his failure in providing compensation to farmers whose land was acquired for the campus.
Mast Nath Yogi, senior JD leader and Ch. Shabir Ahmed, senior NC leader, also spoke to protestors and ‘blamed CM for shielding some corrupt officers of his home town’ and alleged that ‘sub- standard material is being used on the development works by certain agencies’.
The demonstrators also blocked the road in the town for three hours and demanded setting up of a committee to monitor the development works and threatened to resort to chain hunger strike if the demand for constitution of a monitoring committee was not conceded by the government.
