| JP supports JBA bandh call, plead for transfer of sex scandal case to Jammu | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU AUG-7 Expressing great concern over the continued strike by Jammu Bar Association (JBA) which entered 40th day today, Jammu and Kashmir Unit of Janata party in its meeting held under the chairmanship of its General Secretary Karan Jit Singh has extended his party’s full support to the bandh call given by the Bar Association for August 11. The party has criticized the Kashmir Bar Association (KBA) for undermining the professional ethics by unanimously deciding not to contest the cases of the alleged accused in the sex scandal. The constitution of India provides equal opportunities to all and denial of legal assistance by KBA amounts to refusal of justice to the alleged accused persons, the party said adding that the current agitation by the Jammu lawyers, seeking transfer of the sex scandal case from Srinagar, was fully justified. Party President Som Nath Dabgotra made an appeal to the Government to transfer the case from Srinagar to Jammu so that the litigants of Jammu region do not suffer because of the strike by Bar Association. Those who attended the meeting included Kapoor Singh Datta, State Vice President Suraj Mani Sharma Joint Secretary, Mohammed Sadiq Posal Secretary and Usha Kumari Treasurer.
