Jammu | May 6 A literary programme on the works and personality of great artist, litterateur, thinker Dr. O.P. Sharma ‘Sarathi’ was organized today. The programme was organized by J&K Punjabi Sahit Sangam (Regd.) Jammu in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu. The programme was presided over by renowned Punjabi Literature Prof. Devinder Singh while S. Trilochan Singh Wazir, MLC, and Pradhan Gurudwara Prabadhan Board was the Chief Guest of the function. Renowned Dogri writer and poet, Dr. Jitender Udhampuri was the guest of honour of the function. The programme commenced with the welcome address of the president of the sangam, Raj Pal Singh Mastana, who threw light on the activities and achievements of the Sangam. He said that the Sangam is working not only for the promotion of Punjabi literature in the state but is also working for the social upliftment of the mankind. In the first session three papers were read on the works of Dr. Sarathi. Anuradha read the paper on Punjabi novel Rankhetra of Dr. Sarathi while Jyoti Bala’s paper was based upon the novel Nanga Rukh, while Raj Rahi read a paper on the collection of Short Stories “Yaatra”. In the second session, a Kavi Darbar was held in which poets from all walks of the life recited their poems on the occasion. The poets, who read poems included Sharda Sahni, Parveen Kanta, Ayodhya Rani Gamkhwar, Des Raj Danish, Suraj Rattan, Deepak Aarsi, Hardyal Singh Rehbar, Kewal Krishan Shakir, Bhupinder Bhargav, Shamsher Singh Chouhalbi, Amar Singh Kuka, Baljeet Raina, Surinder Neer, Ishupal.
