JU revises remuneration for various 'examinations assignments'

Jammu, Sept 16: Dr Avinash Kumar Gupta, former President of J&K College Teachers' Association and presently member of Jammu University Council, informed that the University of Jammu vide its Notification No. 2 of 2014 dated 27-08-2014 has revised the remuneration rates of various assignments of examinations (Annexure V of the Notification) after approval by the 76th University Council vide its Resolution No. 76-30.
It is pertinent to mention here that the remuneration rates were revised in the year 2004 and since then the rates were revised for a few assignments only, viz., vide University notification No F.Acad./II/4/11/587-786 dated 24-01-2011, the rates for evaluation of Answer Scripts were revised from Rs 10/- to Rs 15/- for all under graduate courses and from Rs 10/- to Rs 20/- for all post graduate courses w.e.f. 01/01/2011. "The revised rates w.e.f. 01/04/2011 for the conduct of Practical and Theory examinations notified by the University vide Nos. F.Acad/II/11/1856-2055 dated 30-05-2011 and F.Acad/II/11/3660-3839 dated 06-07-2011 respectively were kept in abeyance because of various discrepancies in the rates, he added.
The matter with regard to enhancement and rationalization of remuneration rates was vigorously taken up by Dr Gupta along with his Presidium members with the University authorities and after review by a committee constituted by the Vice-Chancellor, the issue was placed in the 73rd University Council meeting held on 18/10/2012 (Agenda item No. 73.48) but due to discrepancies/shortcomings in the rates and on the intervention of Dr Avinash Kumar Gupta, the Chancellor directed the VC to constitute a Revisit Committee in consultation with the Kashmir University and workout rationalized enhanced rates for both the Universities before its final approval.
The matter was endorsed to the University Council by 103rd University Syndicate held on 13/03/2014 vide Resolution No. 103.74(04), thereby fulfilling the long pending demand of the College Teaching fraternity.
