| Cultivation on de-mined fields to be allowed soon: Tara Chand | | |
JAMMU, MAY 07 Following the de-mining of fields along zero point, the government is soon going to allow the farmers to start cultivation on their lands. The information was given at a meeting of the concerned departments convened by Speaker Mr. Tara Chand to review the progress on handing over of the de-mined land to the owners and construction of housing colonies for rehabilitation of six thousand displaced border families. Meting decided that within one week the farmers would be given the checks for tracterization and clearing of their de-mined fields. For the purpose a team headed by Tehsildar would visit the de-mined areas and identify the owners and their land in the areas where the de-mining has been completed. The farmers whose land have been de-mined would be given financial assistance of about eight thousand for tracterization, the meeting was informed. The project plan for constructing the cluster of houses for rehabilitating the displaced border families was also discussed. Speaker asked the concerned departments to take up the demarcation of the plots where ever the land has been acquired. He called for a close coordination among the departments, including R&B, Power and PHE and said all of them should start the work simultaneously, to avoid any confusion at the later stage. He also reviewed the arrangements made by PHE and Power departments for providing their respective services in the upcoming colonies. The meeting was informed that power development department has already transported the required material, while PHE besides, having a plan to construct a over head tank, would install two tube wells in the area. Among others present in the meeting were, Divisional Commissioner Mr. Parmood Jain, Chief Engineers of Power and Public Health Engineering departments, senior Revenue officials and others.
