KATHUA, MAY 07 Jammu and Kashmir 4th Senior National Fist Ball Championship that commenced from 4th May 2007 concluded with prize distribution ceremony at District Police Line Kathua yesterday. Inspector General of Police Mr. S.P. Vaid was the Chief Guest while District Development Commissioner Kathua Ms. Sarita Chauhan was the guest of honour. Teams from 16 states including Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pardesh, Uttrakhand, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Maharashtra, M.P, Gujrat, U.P, Rajasthan, Haryana, Bihar and Jharkhand participated in the championship. In senior category, Men's team, Jammu and Kashmir defeated Punjab by three sets of 21-10, 21-13, 21-9 and in Women team H.P defeated J&K by 21-18,21-16. In sub junior category (Boys) Himachal Pardesh defeated Punjab by 21-18, 21-18. Speaking on the occasion Mr S..P. Vaid congratulated the J&K Fist Ball Association for organizing such a successful championship. He congratulated the wining teams and appreciated the performance of other teams. He said that games promote brotherhood, integrity and peace and said are part and parcel of life. The students of various schools presented cultural programme which was highly appreciated by the audience. Later Mr. Vaid distributed prizes among the wining teams. Among others Senior Superintendent of Police Kathua, senior police officers, Chairman Municipal Council Kathua and Lakhanpur and prominent citizens were also present on the occasion.
