| Poonch-Rawlakote bus delayed due to Army-civilian tiff | | 106 cross LOC through Chakien-de-Bagh | |
Abhishek Jammu, May 7— Due to a tiff between the Army and civil authorities, Poonch-Rawlakote bus today left one late from the scheduled time. The bus which was scheduled to leave 1:30 pm in the afternoon, left at 2:30 pm due to a scuffle between the civil authorities and Army officials as the latter refused to allow the civil officials to move towards the zero point. The trouble arose when an army officer refused to allow the civil officials to accompany the bus at the Zero point from where the bus crosses over to PoK. Refusal by the Army officials despite repeated requests, however, annoyed the civil officials, who according to sources refused to let the bus start for the journey. It was only after the arrival of the Commanding officer of 65 G/R that the issue was resolved and the bus was allowed to move towards the destination. Due to the intransigence of both the parties, the travellers were seen praying for an early end to this fracas. A local resident, who was scheduled to leave said that he turn to go to meet his relatives had come after a long time and he did not want the mood to be spoiled. “I am praying to allah that the things become normal and we reach PoK safely”, he added. Here, it must me mentioned that differences between the Army and Civil administration have been increasing for some time. The civil administration as well as local people were critical of the attitude of Army officials. They say that while those associated with the Army men are allowed easy access to the border but others including even the officials are restricted to move. Even the intelligence officials, on condition of anonymity disclosed, that army was not allowing them to move towards the border. Referring to an earlier incident, Mohd Shahid, a local resident said that Poonch SHO, Chaudhry Rafique was roughed up and mistreated by an army official, who was later transferred. They asked the government to ensure that the friction between the Army and civil administration should be brought to an end, so that locals do not suffer. Meanwhile, one hundred and six persons crossed Line of Control from either side through Chakien-de-Bagh, here today. These include those Indian and Pakistani Nationals who returned after meeting their relatives on the either side of the Line of control. In total 31 crossed from Indian side which included 7 fresh and 24 Pakistan returnees, while 75 entered to this side.
