| Shiv Parvati Cave Shrine mela at Moungri from May 15 | | | UDHAMPUR, MAY 08 To finalize arrangements for smooth conduct of 3-day Annual Shiv Parvati Cave Shrine mela at Moungri in block Panchari of district Udhampur commencing from May 15, 2007, the Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, Mr. Varinder Slathia convened a meeting of district officers and members of mela committee, here today. Deputy Director Tourism, Mr. M. K. Raina, Assistant Director, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Udhampur, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Mr. Ashok Kumar, Chairman, Shiv-Parvati Cave Shrine, Advocate Swatantra Dev Kotwal, President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Mr. Shiv Kumar Sharma, General Secretary, Trikuta Valley Development Forum, Mr. Rakesh Wazir and district officers of various departments were present in the meeting. Threadbare discussions were held with regard to the arrangements for conduct of the mela like security deployment, drinking water and power supply, First-Aid, Sanitation, Transport with specific directions to departments concerned for ensuring adequate arrangements pertaining to their departments. Tehsildar (Territorial) Udhampur, Mr. Gandharb Singh has been appointed as Mela Officer. During the Mela days, the departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Sheep Husbandry, Handicraft, Handloom, Animal Husbandry, Health and Sericulture etc. would put up their stalls to make the people aware about the state and centrally sponsored schemes especially meant for their benefit. To popularize the conventional games, the Youth Services and Sports Department would organize a Rural Sports meet at the site of function in which rural youth of adjoining areas would exhibit their sports talent. Besides the Department in collaboration with NYK, Chief Education Officer would also organize cultural activities. The J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association would arrange a Wrestling competition on May 17, 2007 at Moungri in which wrestlers from Punjab and Haryana would also take part. In check the quality of eatables and other essentials at the mela site, the department of Consumer Affairs and Public Distributions would keep a strict vigil by ensuring proper rate lists on different food stalls during mela days. The meeting was informed that Trikuta Valley Development Forum would also organize a free langer and First Aid Camp during the last day at mela site. Addressing the meeting, Mr Slathia said that such occasions enable the district administration to make the people aware about various polices and programmes of the government aimed at socio-economic transformation of the rural masses. He exhorted upon the officers and members of mela committee to put in their sincere efforts for the grand success of the Annual fair.
