| ICC trounces FCC in a keen contest | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu August 7 Ishan Cricket Club humbled Freedom Cricket Club by 13 runs in a keen contest in the ongoing Independence Cup cricket tournament being played at Sarore here today. ECC won the toss and decided to bat first. They accumulated 164/6 in the stipulated 20 overs with Vikram played a fine knock of 51 runs comprised of 8 superb hits to the fence. Suresh and Anil also contributed useful 42 and 33 runs respectively. They both shared an important 3rd wicket partnership of 58 runs in as many balls. Rakesh also played a handy knock of 30 runs. For FCC, Neeraj and Akhil grabbed 3 wickets a piece. In reply, FCC fell just 13 runs short as the whole team was all out for 151 runs in 19.1 overs. Amar played a fighting knock of 46 runs who paced his innings well. But just when was looking to get into his stride he lost his wicket by mistiming his pull and was caught at mid wicket fence. Akhil, Neeraj and Pranav although fought hard to survive by contributing 32, 24 and 20 runs but doesn’t succeeded. Jugal also chipped in with 15 runs. For ECC, Suresh bowled exceptionally well to scalp 4 wickets while Anil and Karan took 2 wickets each. Suresh for his brilliant all round performance was declared the Man of the Match.
