| Shastri demands constitution of joint consultative machinery | | | Jammu May-08 President National Mazdoor Conference, Subash Shastri, has appealed the Chief Minister to set up joint consultative machinery on the pattern of Central Government comprising representatives of the government employees, federations and other trade unions for periodical exchange of views and to redress the problems of the salaried class in the state. Addressing workers meeting here today, Shastri said this mechanism would promote cordial relations among the employees and the state government on one hand and also promote best work culture on the other. Shastri has urged upon the Prime Minister to declare Jammu and Srinagar as B-I cities adding that granting this status to both the capital cities would ensure more flow of funds for upgrading infrastructure and modernizing civic amenities. ‘Since cost of living has increased in the capital cities, granting this status to these cities would benefit the salaried class ’, he added. Describing the last year as the year of salaried class, he hoped that this year would be the year of the daily wagers and hoped that their services would be regularized in one go. The meeting also passed several resolutions seeking release of DA installment due from January last, grant of Rs.1000 per month as interim relief, early payment of wages to motivators, release of pending salary to social forestry daily wagers, regulations of all daily wagers, release of COLA and payment of salary to chowkidars and malies of Rural development department. Among others who spoke included Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sinil Kochhar, Sham Lal Sharma, Bodh Raj Sharma, Mohammed Farooq, Sukdev Singh, Puran Chand, Lalit Sharma and Bhupinder Singh.
