Kissan Board Kishtwar discusses damage of crops

Kishtwar, Sept 23: A meeting of members of Kissan Board was held here today under the Chairmanship of Shamsher Singh Bhandari in which the damage caused to the crops in various areas of Kandi belt by the incessant rains was discussed.
During meeting the members demanded government that farmers who have suffered the losses be provided immediate relief and the crop insurance scheme be also started in the State. The meeting expressed grave concern over the damages caused to houses in far flung areas of the Kishtwar, Doda and Udhampur districts due to landslides and demanded that the affected people be provided relief immediately.
It also expressed grave concern over the devastation caused by flash floods in both regions of the State including Kashmir Valley and Jammu region and demanded that the relief and rehabilitation measures be launched on war footing. The meeting was also addressed by Farooq Ahmed Tapal, Tilak Raj Shan and Akshay Kumar.
