Satwari police solved blind murder case

Police today claimed to have solved blind murder case of an ex-police follower (peon) after the teenaged son of the victim fell to the sustained interrogation by the investigating team, confessing that he killed his father for money.
The victim, a retired police official and resident of Satwari Muhammad Hanif was found murdered in his room on May 3.
The body of the victim was found wrapped in a quilt (Razaie) and police had picked up his three sons for questioning.
Police sources said that the seventeen year old son of the deceased, Mohammad Amin was picked along his two brothers for questioning.
During the interrogation, Amin confessed that he killed his father by suffocating him under the pressure of the quilt after he refused to release the money laying in the bank in the form of Fixed Deposit (FD).
Giving details Superintendent of Police Jammu South, Zahid Manhas told that the victim Muhammad Hanif survived by three sons.
"The government had sanctioned an amount of Rs 2.30 lakh as a compensation amount after deceased wife, a lady constable, expired in the year 2003", the SP said adding, "The money was deposited in the bank in the form of FD and was to be released after a fixed time:.
The accused, he said during his confessionary statement said that after his father refused to give him the FD he killed him by suffocating him under the quilt inside the room of the victim.
He said the accused have been arrested for further questioning.
It was learnt that after registering the case SSP Jammu Mukesh Singh and SP City South Zahid Manhas constituted a team headed by SHO Satwari under the supervision of SDPO City South Jammu Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan to investigating the matter. Sources said Mohd Farid was stressing his father to hand over his FDR, so that after attaining age of 18, he can withdraw the said amount from the Bank. The father refused to hand over the FDR and also asked him ( son) that he (father) will proceed in court law for his (son) disinheritance (Fargati) .Upon this his son namely Mohd Farid who was residing separately from his father at Digiana Camp on 28 April in drunk condition went to the house his father at Azad Nagar. His father was residing alone in the house. At that time his father was taking dinner and he (father) had already consumed liquor. Mohd Hanief put liquor frooti in the glass and offered the same to his father. In the meantime Mohd Farid asked his father to give him some money for repair of his scooter and also asks to hand over his FDR. The father refused the hand over FDR and slapped his son. The son retaliated and overpowered his father and started beating him. The son took hand implement leveling instruments (durmut) and assaulted upon his father as a result of which he sustained grievous injuries and died on spot. The accused put bedding clothes over the dead body, locked the room fled away from the spot. The accused has been arrested and investigation of the case is in progress.
