ABVP celebrates 150th anniversary of 1857 mutiny

The State unit of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today celebrated the 150th anniversary of 1857 mutiny; the first struggle for independence of the British ruled united India, at University of Jammu this evening. Romesh Pappa, General Secretary (North) ABVP was also present during the occasion.
On the occasion, 150 ‘deepaks’ were illuminated to mark the 150th anniversary of the first struggle for independent India. ABVP activists carrying the maps of ‘Akhand Bharat-Pre-Independence India including Pakistan and Bangladesh’ paid rich tributes to the first mutineer, Mangal Pande. In his address, Pappa exhorted upon the youth to follow the mantra “My career is my Country”. He also expressed hope that India, Pakistan and Bangladesh will re-unite and once again shape out Akhand Bharat of Pre Independence era.
It is to mention that 150 years ago, Mangal Pande on May 10, 1857 has revolted against the British rule. The programme was attended by more than 100 activists of ABVP. State Organising Secretary, Suresh Magotra was also present during the occasion.
