Encroachment on temples, shrines draw flak

Several Jammu based organizations from Hindu community have expressed their concern over encroachment of land and other property of Hindus including their temples and shrines in the state for the last eighteen years and administration remaining mute spectators to such vandalism.
In this connection, a meeting of heads and representatives of Hindu organizations of the region was held under the banner of a joint morcha, which demanded that adequate measures should be taken to evict encroachment and ensure protection of all religious places of Hindus in whole of the Jammu and Kashmir State, particularly in Kashmir Valley. According to a press release, it was stated that efforts were being made to change nomenclatures of some historical places like Shankracharya and Hari Parbat, which will not be allowed at any cost.
It was stated that administration was not taking Kashmir region based Hindus in confidences and has sought their suggestions only in the matter of maintenance of Hindus property in the State and formulation of legislation. The action of the government would be fought tooth and nail as the same was concerning to whole of the Hindu community of the state.
It was unanimously decided that various Hindu religious and social organizations would form a committee and meet Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad soon and apprise him of the sentiment of the Hindus of the Jammu region and impress upon him to take strong measures for protection of the all assets and properties associated with Hindu organizations and representatives of Jammu region in formulation of joint mechanism for the purpose of protecting of Hindus in the valley.
Among those who attended the meeting included Dr. Ramakant Dubey, President Vishwa Hindu parishad Rajesh Gupta, Orgainizing Secretary, North India, Shiv Sena, jammu Dharamvir Batra, President Santan Dharam Sabha Kashmir Valley, Jammu, Th. Divakar Singh, President, Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust, Shyam Lal Churamani, Conveyor, Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Jammu Bali Bhagat, State BJP General Secretary, Jammu.
