| Speaker inaugurates receiving station at Balli Gulaba in Khour | | | JAMMU, MAY 10 In order to provide uninterrupted power supply, Speaker Legislative Assembly Mr. Tara Chand today inaugurated 3.15 MVA, 33/11 KV Receiving Station at Balli Gulaba in Khour block about 65 kilometers away from here this afternoon. The Receiving Station constructed by Power Development Department under Rural Electrification Scheme at an estimated cost of Rs. 116. 52 lakh. Chief Engineer M&RE Mr. D. S. Pawar, Superintending Engineer M&RE Mr. Sonam Galyston, Chairman Municipal Committee Mr. Om Parkash Sharma, Executive Engineers Mr. Ravi Chanyal, Mr. M. L. Kalotra and other senior engineers of PHE, PDD and RDD were also present. After inaugurating, Speaker said that coalition government is committed to provide electricity at every nook and corner of the three regions of the state particularly far-off areas of the border belt. He said that the people are facing acute power shortage and low voltage problems besides long power cuts due to existing 11 KV Balli Gulaba feeder emanating from 5 MVA, 33/11 KV Tanda Receiving Station. He said that after the construction of Receiving Station about 15000 souls of Balli, Dori, Dager, Danna and its adjoining areas would be benefited and its long pending demand is now fulfilled. He asked the engineers to remain present in their respective power stations to tackle the shut down problem expected to arise during the summer season. Mr. Tara Chand appealed the people to use electricity judiciously and asked the PDD engineers to regularize more and more illegal connections and collect power tariff regularly from the consumers. Responding to the demands of locals, he apprised that the coalition government has already sanctioned Rs. 2.75 crore for the construction of Nathal link road while work is under progress. He also disclosed that Rs. 9.86 lakh spent for construction of dug wells in Khour to meet the requirement of adequate drinking water. A large number of people met the Speaker and putforth their genuine demands being faced by them in their respective villages included repair and renovation of Government Higher Secondary School Balli Gulaba, opening of PHC, adequate staff posted in Animal Husbandry Department and Government Higher Secondary School Balli Gulaba, Construction of Panchayat Ghar Building, rehabilitation of border migrants, settlement of old aged and widow pension cases. He gave patient hearing and assured them their genuine demands would be looked into and solved one by one on priority basis. He said that the centre and state governments have launched so many welfare schemes for the betterment of border belt. He appealed the people to avail benefits of the schemes so that the socio-economic condition of all the sections of the society would be improved. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Engineer M&RE Mr. D. S. Pawar appealed the people to pay power tariff regularly and use power judiciously. He said that on the constriction of Balli Gulaba receiving station, the power supply of areas would be improved.
