| Cultural programme organized | | | SAMBA, MAY 10 Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Jammu, organized a composite cultural programme in the border area of District Samba at Guru Nanak Dev Higher Secondary School Ramgarh. Prominent citizens witnessed the programme in which local and other artists participated and presented different folk musical items besides local audience including large number of students of S. Jarnail Singh Khalsa School. Principal of Higher Secondary School was the chief guest on the occasion. While welcoming the audience, Additional Secretary of Cultural Academy Mr. T.R. Sharma highlighted various steps taken by the Cultural Academy to develop and promote art, culture and languages in remote areas. He said that the Academy, besides organizing various cultural and literary programmes in towns of Jammu Division, is also organizing these activities in far-flung and border areas enabling the local talented artists to use the platform of Cultural Academy for exhibiting their hidden talent. He disclosed that during the coming summer vacation, Cultural Academy Jammu shall be organizing a month long summer workshop for the children in the disciplines of Dance, Theatre and Painting at Abhinav Theatre. He urged upon the desirous students to enroll themselves for participating in the workshop The Principal of S. Jarnail Singh Khalsa school appreciated the cultural programme presented by the Cultural Academy and hoped that more literary and cultural programmes be organized in border areas. The artists, who participated in the programmes are Ved Parkash and Party, Thoru Ram Premi and Party, Rashpal Singh Chanotra, Subash Chander and Party,Kuldip Raj and Party, Surpal, Bishan Dass, The programme was conducted by Mr. Randhir Kumar, Sr. Staff Artist whereas vote of thanks was presented by Mrs. Shamima Akhtar, Special Officer for Cultural Activities, Jammu.
