Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 3: Horn honking and traffic snarls turned normal traffic chaotic on Srinagar - Jammu highway at Narwal allegedly due to failure of traffic police to regulate vehicular movement forcing local populace of area to bear the brunt. "Due to chronic jams hundreds of vehicles, including goods carriers remain stranded along the National Highway road right from Narwal Bala area upto Qasim Nagar, an eyewitness said. The commuters and drivers alleged that main chaos and confusion prevailed due to heavy traffic jams in Narwal has become order of the day, causing inconvenience and discomfort to the people of Channi Bathindi,Sunjwan,Sainik Colony and its adjoining areas. "Both the tubes of four lane road were blocked right from the morning to evening hours for the last fifteen days, instead of managing traffic the lower rungs police officers of traffic police are seen stopping the vehicular movement, most of the trucks, the reason best known to them, they lamented. Meanwhile, IGP Traffic Muneer Khan, when contacted has genuine reason to say that the National Highway from Nagrota to Srinagar bears the load of traffic due to landslide, adding, that trucks are streamlined near Narwal Bala owing to this reason. He further said that to curb the chaos truck drivers have been asked to halt their trucks in a recently carved out parking lot at Lakhanpur. He however assured that by tomorrow, the National Highway at Narwal Bala to remain cleared. |
