| World breast-feeding week celebrated at Katra | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER KATRA, AUGUST 7 World breast feeding week, which is being celebrated throughout the World from Ist August 2006. In this connection a seminar was held here today which was organized by the Health Education Bureau Directorate of Health Services Jammu. Director Health Services Jammu Dr Jasbir Singh who was chief guest on the occasion, presided over the seminar whereas Projector Director RCH Dr Rakesh Khajuria was guest of honor in the function. Addressing the participants the Director Health Services stressed upon them to convey the message in the society especially mothers with regard to breastfeeding to the babies for the first 6 months and continue breastfeeding for 2 year or beyond alongwith adequate and appropriate complimentary feeding starting after 6 months provides ideal nutrition to infants and young children. It is the basis for their sound development health as well survival breastfeeding saves the mothers and children from ailments. We should also provide good diet to the mothers at the stage of breast-feeding, he said. Eight speakers including Dr Anju Baru, Dr Anju Bala and students of Government Higher Secondary School Katra and Government High School Girls participated and expressed their views on the topic. The chief guest distributed mementoes among the participants who spoke on the occasion. Among others who spoke on the occasion Project Director RCH Health Services Dr Rakesh Khajuria, CMO Udhampur Dr H. K Badyal, Principal HSS Katra Mr Romesh Chander Sharma, Assistant Director Health Services Jammu Dr J. S Khurana and BMO Katra Dr Raj Paul Singh who also thanks to all the participants who were present in the occasion.
