| Hakim review progress scenario of Budgam | | | Srinagar, May 11 Minister for Transport Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen today reviewed the progress registered under Power, PHE and Health sectors in Budgam district at a senior officers meeting. District Development Commissioner Budgam Khawaja Farooq Renzu besides senior functionaries of the district administration were also present. Speaking in the meeting, Hakeem Yaseen exhorted that the main thrust of the development strategy should be to complete and consolidate the ongoing works so that the projected benefits reach to people. He urged to give thrust on the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes in the district aimed at uplifting the poorer sections of rural areas. He said government has formulated a massive plan for electrifying areas which have not been provided electricity. A plan has already been submitted to the central government for approval and release of funds, he added. He said that the power distribution system in the district would be streamlined adding that about Rs. 10 crore were utilized for repairs of damaged transformers and transmission lines last year. He asked the people not pay for repairs of transformers and warned the employees of serious action if found indulging in collecting money from the people for repairs of transformers. The minister directed for formulation of detailed projects to link the major towns with each other by dependable roads and highways network in the district so that better connectivity is provided. He said government has sanctioned additional Rs. 2 crore for strengthening the infrastructure under health sector in the district. The meeting took stock of drinking water and medicare facilities being provided to the people in the district. The District Development Commissioner gave resume of development scenario of the district in the meeting and said that current year would be year of development and progress for the people of Budgam district. He assured the Minister that efforts would be made to take the fruits of development and prosperity to every corner of the district besides improving tourist infrastructure in the district.
