| Recognition for belt of seven Power projects as Upper Chenab Hydroelectric Corporation, hits air | | | Jammu May 11 Kishtwar district may put forth its demand for the ‘pound of flesh’ from the state government either in terms of revenue from hydro power generated or share in the power generation, such voices spinning around within the political and non political spheres may pose a new headache to state government. Worth to recall that earlier the same voice has been raised by the Chenab Valley Hill Development Council, which emphasized upon the due share to the then Doda District for its development. Alleging sheer neglect towards biggest district in the state and leaving it to lag behind in development scenario. Not only the Chenab Valley Hill Development Council even various political parties on their individual principles have raised their voices for the due share to the Chanab valley. And this time to time drum beating by the various parties has created a thin line within the common masses who also have been separated from others (silent spectators) and this chunk stresses for the same- the due share to the Chenab Valley basin. Ajay Parihar a Junior Engineer serving in Jammu humming the same tunes said that Doda Kishtwar and Bhaderwah and Ramban have been neglected from the road map of the multi-sectoral and multi dimensional development viz. communication, better road connectivity, health and education sectors in particular. And with getting the status of the district Kishtwar needs to be recognized for its share its resources. One Bani Lal Kosistani presently residing in Gandhinagar claiming a pound of flesh from state government has asked for creating the Upper Chenab Hydroelectric Corporation with corporate office at Kishtwar on the similar pattern of the Satluj Jal Viduyat Nigam of Himachal Pradesh or NARBADI Hydro Electric Corporation of Madya Pradesh. In his communication expressing his hand on the geography of the area, he has pin pointed that 07 out of the 08 Hydro Electric Projects namely Dul Hasti (390MW), Pakal Dul (1000 MW), Bursur (1020MW), Shamnot (370MW), Ratle (560MW), Kiru (430MW), Kawar (320MW), lie within a radius of 50 Kms of Kishtwar and all are being erected on river Chenab. ‘The government needs to recognize the said project sites as Upper Chenab Hydroelectric Power Corporation to give the due share to the said area and Chenab river basin facing a nelson’s eye attitude from the successive government delivering due share to the district for its development as the Chenab has a huge potential of generating hydro power, another resident of Kishtwar Farooq Javed lamented.
