| Postponing of Wachi Rally- left many questions unanswered for PDP | | | Sanjay Khajuria Jammu May 12 The postponing of the Public rally of Mufti Mohammed Sayeed at Wachi in South Kashmir has raised many questions and put the party in Rubix dilemma to fix the colours. Whatever the reasons be this proposed rally’s postponing has set debates in political spheres as it was reportedly postponed due to terror threats putting the party leadership on a defensive stance. If reports are to be believed as appeared in Hindustan Times national English daily and the other local newspapers under the heading ‘Militant threat forces PDP to call of rally’ has not left PDP leadership in a soup but sympathizers on a defensive stand. It is to mention that party since its inception has been cling to its ‘Healing Touch’ slogans offered ‘new Surrender Policy’ has been branded with the pro militant party by its political rivals but this has shocked the party and the rivals as well. As per the news items appeared in the dailies, “ The terrorists circulate pamphlets threatening attack if PDP goes ahead with rally at Wachi on Wednesday May 9 in Shopian in South Kashmir.” The pamphlets also asked the people to stay away from this rally.’ Aghast over the unexpected development PDP leadership is on a defensive step giving reasons to the people and media at the same time pondering over what has posted the militants against them as the party since its inception has adopted a soft stand for the militants. Though its was not the first chance of terror threat to PDP rally as militants had hurled grenades in the Party rally at Uri to demand resumption of Uri-Muzafferbad Road in which many people were injured and security cover managed to tailor an escape route to party president Mehbooba Mufti, then finance minister Muzaffer Hussain Beig and other senior party cadres. Former chief minister Mufti Sayeed was expected to address the Wachi Rally and was looked as more significant for the party when it in a search of more space has organized a rally at remote town in South Kashmir in Shopian newly crafted district in valley. Talking to Early Times Daman Bhasin general secretary of the party rejected the media reports and said that it was baseless as the news items lack to substantiate their sequences. Secondly he said party has recently organized atleast 17 successful public programme and including some under the supervision of party MLA of the said area Ghulam Hassan Khan a popular leader of the area. Referring to the militant threat, party is committed and will consistently go ahead to work for the cause of people and go to their door step to resolve their issues. However these claims were rejected by Ram Kumar a staunch supporter of BJP who said this event should be an eye opener for the party which holding ‘demilitarization as a lucky gold coin’ as the situation has yet not improved as the party is claiming for.
