| Air Force Station conducts AFWWA summer camp | | | Jammu, May 12 The Air Force Wives Welfare Association (Local), Air Force Station Jammu conducted six days summer camp with the objective of exposing the Air Force children at the budding stage to higher levels of activities so as to inculcate in them the spirit of adventure/competition, improvement of communication skills, leadership qualities, camaraderie and overall personality development. The summer camp conceived, coordinated and conducted under the inspiring guidance and enabling care of Ms Noni Kler, President AFWWA (L) and Group Captain JS Kler Station Commander, AF Station with the participation of 192 children, concluded today with a glittering closing ceremony in which the participating children presented a cultural extravaganza. The summer camp group enjoyed learning through fun, putting their heart into various activities like swimming, story telling, talent search, games, fire fighting and first aid and aerobatics. The senior children had more future oriented activities such as public speaking, group discussion, and career counseling. The children were also exposed and trained in yoga, breathing techniques and karate to withstand the stresses of modern life. Besides, the children highly enjoyed their trip to Amar Singh Museum, Wildlife Sanctuary and tank rides. The children spent an exciting time with aero modeling, where they learnt the basics of flying. The instructors had a testing time in satisfying the inquisitiveness of the young minds. But the most exciting and enjoyable activity was the visit to the helicopter unit where they were exposed to a fully armed helicopter and the aerobatics which fallowed. Mrs. Noni Kler President AFWWA (L) gave away the prizes to the winners of various competitions held during the summer camp. The paintings and clay models prepared by the children during the camp displayed were appreciated by all. In his closing address Mrs Noni appreciated the keenness shown by all the children in the camp activities and the efforts taken by the station administration in making the Camp a success, a Defence release said.
