| Nirmal Singh criticizes PDP for its outburst against Governor | | | Jammu, May 12 : Criticizing PDP’s concept of demilitarization and its outbursts targeting Governor Lt-Gen (Retd) S K Sinha, former BJP state President Dr Nirmal Singh on Saturday said that the party has been changing its stand at different times to suit the interests of its patron Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and unnecessarily targeting head of the state. In a press statement issued here, the BJP leader said, "PDP has lost its balance and has used un- parliamentary language in respect of the Head of the state like “keep quiet” and “not speak out of turn”. Does such language behove a responsible political party and is it in keeping with requirements of decorum and decency in public life? Disagreement with the views of the Governor can certainly be expressed but shouldn’t this be done in a more civilized manner?, Singh questioned. He said the prophet of “healing touch” never talked of demilitarization when he was the Chief Minister. But soon after change of guard he latched on to demilitarization like a magnet. Singh said, Mufti has been consistently parroting Musharraf’s formula day in and day out and besides this his daughter and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti too is aggressively demanding that ‘the Army should pack up its bags and quit Kashmir’. He said, Mufti even tried his best to pull down the State Government on the issue of demilitarization. PDP Ministers took the unprecedented step of boycotting Cabinet meetings. He said, even the separatists were critical of PDP for stealing their demilitarization agenda and exploiting it for electoral gains. Expressing concern over troop withdrawal, Singh said ‘With the withdrawal of troops, the terrorists would have a free run and greater support would be forthcoming from them during the 2008 Assembly elections. Further, while continuing with the rhetoric on withdrawal, reduction and location of troops, Mufti chose to remain mum on these at the 3rd Round Table Conference, he added.
