2 ultras killed; Pak nationals among 3 militants arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar May 12
Two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen were killed in a gun battle with army in Sopore area of Baramulla district, while Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have apprehended three militants, including two Pakistan nationals, from two separate places across Kashmir Valley.
Reports reaching here revealed that two militants of HM were killed in an encounter with army at Tarzoo village of Sopore , this morning. One of the slain militant was said to be a Pakistan national.
Giving details of the encounter, an official spokesman told News Agency of Kashmir that acting on a tip off 52 Rashtriya Rifles launched a search operation in the village during the wee hours, today.
When the troops were conducting searches they came under fire from hiding militants. The fire, he said was returned and in the ensuing gun battle both militants were shot dead.
One of the slain militants, identified as Istyaq Peer alias Gazi, was said to be active in the area from last more than seven years. Identification of other militants was being ascertained, however, he was believed to be Pakistani. Both of them were from HM.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman said that Police and 6 Rashtriya Rifles arrested two foreign militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba from Daril forests in Vilgam during a search operation.
The arrested militants have been identified as Akther Saleem son of Muhammad Nazir of Lahore and Muhammad Yaseen son of Ashiq of Sialkot, Pakistan. Two -AK 56 rifles, four Magazines, 120-Rounds of ammunition, one Wireless set with antenna, two Handgrenades and two UBGL's were recovered from their possession.
Meanwhile, in another search operation, launched following an encounter at Sangran Pati Warsun and Dard Hari, four AK 47 rifles, twelve Magazines, 249- Rounds of ammunition and two Hand grenades were recovered from the site, the spokesman said.
He added that one AK 47 rifle, four Magazines, 120 Rounds of ammunition and one Pouch have already been recovered from the possession of Bilal Ahmad Mir of Nizampora Kangan who had been arrested from the encounter site.
