| Shastri demands early release of DA | | |

Urging Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to order release of pending installment of Dearness Allowance in favour of State Government employees and its pensioners, due from January last, National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) President, Subash Shastri, hoped that the decision to this effect would be taken in the next cabinet meeting likely to be held next week at Srinagar.
NMC President has also sought special financial package from the Centre to meet expenditure on account of release of DA installment.
Lauding employee-friendly policies and approach of Chief Minister, Shastri hoped that Jammu and Kashmir, under his dynamic and able leadership, would be the first State in the country to implement the new pay scales and granting other incentives in one go.
Addressing workers meeting here today, Shastri strongly pleaded the cause of the working class and demanded immediate regularization of IWDP Motivators of Akhnoor Watershed, release of 50 months salary to the Social Forestry daily wagers, pending installments of COLA and regularization of left over workers of Rural Development and Floriculture Departments.
The meeting, among others, was addressed y Ms. Shamema Akhter, Gita Devi, S.L. Sharma, Bodh Raj Sharma, Mohammed Farooq, Sukhdev Singh, Madan Lal, Puran Chand and Ram Lal Sharma.
