| BJP to work for reorganization of State on provincial basis: Hari Om | | | Jammu, May 13 The state unit of the BJP on Sunday said that it has now been left with no other option but to work for the State’s reorganization on provincial basis in order to obtain for the people of Jammu province what they legitimately deserve in the country’s democratic and economic processes. Accusing the Kashmir-based parties and their friends in the Congress of joining hands to deny justice to the people of Jammu province in terms of increased representation to them in the Assembly on the basis of area, voters, accessibility and nature of terrain and to dismiss out-of-hand the 60-year-old constitutional demand of the refugees from West Pakistan that they be given all the citizenship rights, including the right to vote, right to property and right to education and bank loan, Vice President of the state BJP unit Prof Hari Om trained his guns on Kashmir centric political parties and Congress lead coalition government for constantly ignoring the demand of the refugees. In a press statement issued here, Prof Hari Om said that Kashmir-based parties like National Conference (NC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Congress have forefeited their right to talk in terms of secularism, principle of justice, equity, balanced regional development, empowerment of the refugees from West Pakistan and POK and refugees of 1965 and 1971 and the unity and integrity of the State. Reacting to the negative outcome of the all-party meeting held at Srinagar yesterday under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, he said that the BJP had no doubt whatsoever that all these parties would ensure the collapse of all such proposals as were designed to dispense justice to the people of Jammu and Ladakh and the refugees. He further said that the BJP is not at all surprised over what these parties and their supporters in Jammu like Mangat Ram Sharma did to jeopardize the legitimate rights and interests of the people of these two provinces and the hapless refugees, whose life has become a veritable hell on earth owing to the anti-human attitude of these patently Valley-based formations and their supporters in Jammu and Ladakh. Prof. Hari Om said that the decision of the BJP to work for the State’s reorganization needs to be viewed in the light of the rabidly anti-Jammu attitude as displayed by the Valley-centric parties in the all-party meet. It is the firm belief of the BJP that only reorganization of the State can enable the people of Jammu province to shape and control fully their political and economic future within India and under the Indian Constitution, as also redress the grievance of the refugees from West Pakistan and other refugees. It is the valley-centric parties which are responsible for compelling the BJP to demand the state’s reorganization, said Prof. Hari Om. Meanwhile, BJP spokesman appreciated the decision of the CRPF to launch recruitment drive in Jammu, Sunderbani and Bhaderwah from May 14 to May 18, saying such a recruitment drive would go a long way in removing from the minds of the people of Jammu province the well-founded suspicion that the CRPF was also discriminating against the youth of this province to appease the Valley youth. He congratulated the BJP cadres across the region for the pressure they had generated on this issue of discrimination.
