| Human trafficking case: Hearing on co-accused's bail deferred | | | NEW DELHI, MAY 14 A court here today deferred the hearing on the bail plea of Kiran Dhar, a co-accused in the human trafficking case, after Delhi Police requested that the matter be taken up after it completed interrogation of three other MPs whose names cropped up during the probe.
In an application filed before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kamini Lau, the police submitted that three MPs -- Mitrasen Yadav, Ashok Kumar Rawat and Ramswaroop Koli -- were today called to join the probe in the case.
The investigation officer sought adjournment on the hearing of Dhar's bail plea contending it would be more appropriate if the matter was taken up only after the conclusion of interrogation of the three MPs and a few other persons allegedly involved in the racket.
Allowing the officer's plea, the court posted the matter for May 16. Dhar, along with Rajendra Kumar Gumpa, personal secretary of suspended BJP MP Babubhai Katara and Sunder Lal Yadav were arrested on April 20 when they were allegedly trying to flee from the capital.
The police yesterday had served notices to MP Tahir Khan besides three other parliamentarians asking them to appear before the Crime Branch sleuths, probing the case.
The role of the four MPs had come under the scanner after Yadav had spilled the beans saying he had introduced some travel agents to the MPs.
Katara was arrested on April 18 while trying to take a woman Paramjeet Kaur and a 15-year-old boy on his wife and son's passport respectively. Six persons including Katara have been arrested by the police in connection with the case.
