| Loaded truck stolen from lakhanpur: CJM Kathua directs Crime Branch to register FIR | | |
Jammu, May 14 In a bizarre case a loaded truck has been stolen from Lakhanpur check post right under the nose of alert state police force deployed at the gateway much to the chagrin of senior police authorities.
In another related development, the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kathua, has directed Crime Branch Jammu to register a FIR under section 156(3) CrPC against those mentioned in the complaint filed by one Kuldeep Singh, a truck owner, whose truck, along with goods, had been stolen at Lakhanpur toll post. The instruction to the Crime Branch was given by the Chief Judicial Magistrate after receiving a complaint from Kuldeep Singh, in which the complainant had blamed Lakhanpur police for not registering a case which his driver, Garib Singh, wanted to register against one influential person, Jamuna Dass. In the complaint to the Chief Judicial Magistrate Kuldeep Singh, a resident of village Khandwal in Kangra district of Himachal, had stated that the driver of his truck,Garib Singh,also a resident of District Kangra, had loaded the truck with tin sheets and other goods at Ludhiana on April 23.The consignment was to be delivered at Gangyal industrial estate in Jammu.In the complaint the complainant has said that when Garib Singh took the truck on weigh bridge at Lakhanpur some unidentified persons assaulted him.He was carried to the office of one Jamuna Dass where also the driver was beaten up and Rs.5300 were snatched from his pocket alongwith the documents and invoices of the goods. After coming out of the office of Jamuna Dass the driver found his truck missing.He informed the owner,Kuldeep Singh,who alongwith his son rushed to Lakhanpur.Garib Singh approached the Lakhanpur police station authorities and instead of registering his complaint he was put in the lockup.ven Kuldeep singh and his son pleaded with the police for registering the complaint and for releasing Garib Singh.The police refused. It was as a result of intervention by the DSP headquarters that Garib Singh was let off after 10 days.In his complaint Kuldeep Singh has requested the Chief Judicial Magistrate to direct the crime Branch to proceed against Jamuna Dass and those persons who manhandled Garib Singh and took away cash, documents and the truck loaded with goods. He has also pleaded for crime branch action for tracing out the truck and those who assaulted the driver. Accepting the plea Chief Judicial Magistrate directed the Crime Branch Jammu to register the FIR and proceed against those mentioned in the complaint under section 156(3) of CrPC.
