| Angry sikhs burn effigy of dera sacha sauda chief | | |
Jammu, May 15
Activists of various Sikh organizations staged a demonstration at Satwari on Tuesday in protest against what they called sacrilege committed by head of Dera Sacha Sauda,Guru Gurmit Ram Rahim.
The activists shouting anti Dera Chief slogans torched his effigy. They demand Government action against Guru Gurmit Ram and his supporters who had clashed with activists of SGPC at Bhatinda in Punjab on Monday in which 12 persons were injured.
The protestors were lead by Harjeet Singh Kartar and several other members of the community.Talking to media,Kartar said by imitating Guru Gobind Singhji the head of dera sacha sauda has literally hurt their religious sentiments. He said the sikh community in Jammu and Kashmir is hurt over these developments and willing to extend support to their brethren in Punjab to effectively deal with such people."I want to assure our community leaders in Punjab that sikh sangat in the state would stand behind them when it comes to tackling such people"Singh said shouting slogans.
