| Opportunists, Ikhwanis have ganged-up against PDP: Mehbooba | | |

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Ms Mehbooba Mufti has said PDP has emerged as a strong movement with a real agenda for the resolution of political and economic problems of the State and its people. "The party's pro-people agenda has started attracting people in large numbers to the PDP-fold and it is emerging as the sole and genuine voice of the masses across the State," she said.
Addressing one-day convention of the PDP workers at Wagar, Khansahab (Budgam) today, Ms Mufti said the positive transformation that has taken place in the sub-continent towards the Kashmir issue, is the outcome of the efforts of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, both in and outside the power continued to work on a bigger canvass creating conditions feasible for the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue. She said the party never indulged in political brinkmanship and provided a level playing field to all the voices to make the political process all inclusive. She said these far-sighted policies of the PDP leadership have started paying dividends creating a new refreshing and reconciliatory mood for the dignified peace and prosperity of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. "I strongly believe that the era of darkness is nearing an end and a new dawn is awaiting all of us," she said.
Ms Mufti said various elements, in different garbs, among the mainstream parties running their political and commercial establishments on the Kashmir issue, have started feeling insecure with the imminent resolution of the problem. She said all these elements including opportunists, exploiters, sycophants sponsored elements and Ikhwanis have now ganged-up against the PDP, as they feel the party is pushing the issue towards the ultimate resolution, threatening the very existence of such elements. She said various individuals and groups, who are the outcome of the State's political turmoil, have now got into a marriage of convenience and joined hands to weaken the PDP. "As these elements will now have to close down their shops they are out to sabotage any move aimed at the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue," she said and added that the greatest strength for PDP, however, is the power of the people.
Ms Mufti said PDP would expose all these exploitative elements and sponsored politicians before the people so that nobody in future dares to play with the public sentiment. "People have seen the real faces of these sponsored politicians and they will never get swayed away by their emotive and exploitative rhetoric," she said and added that all these illegitimate political activities would die their own death in the coming elections and people would support only the genuine and legitimate political voices.
Ms Mufti said the people of the State are reposing full confidence in politics and political approach of PDP which is not being digested by those who have always exploited the sentiments of the people for their vested interests. She said that in a short span of time the party has created a sense of belonging and security in minds of the people.
Ms Mehbooba impressed upon the workers especially youth to take the message of peace, dignity and progress of PDP to every nook and corner of the State. She assured to resolve the problems and issues raised by people of the Khansahib area.
PDP leaders Javed Mustafa Mir, Hakim Muhammad Aslam, Bilal Lodhi, Ghulam Nabi Lone and Peerzada Mansoor Hussain also addressed the meeting.
