| Harsh demands DDB meetings | | | Jammu | May 15 Former Minster and MLA Harsh Dev Singh has expressed grave concern over the failure of the Govt. to hold District Development Board meetings in consonance with the prevalent policy of convening such meetings at the start of each financial year in April. He said that the District level plans used to be finalized every year in April in the District Development Board meetings and thereafter execution of planned works would commence. He however regretted that it was for the first time that neither the District Plans were finalized nor District Development Board (DDB) meet held in any of the Districts of the State. Singh said that with April month already over, it was astonishing as to when the plans would be formulated and approved and when the execution thereof would commence. He further regretted that all this happened at a time when the Govt. had pre-poned the Budget session with the objective of starting the normal plan execution by March. He said that the pre-poned Budget had proved to be an exercise in futility and the much proi-claimed slogan of work culture had completely crumbled. Urging upon the Govt. to make an objective assessment on it’s own as to the successes or results achieved as a consequence of pre-poned Budget session, Singh said that such introspection was a must for the govt. to visualize itself in it’s true colours and in true light. He further called upon the Govt. to have an honest appraisal and evaluation of it’s performance at various levels so as to arrive at the right conclusions and also to take appropriate action against the dead wood that had occupied important places in Governmental and administrative hierarchy and were causing the greatest damage to the CM’s slogans of “Work Culture”, “Accountability” and “Transparency”. Singh further urged upon the Chief Minister to personally intervene and to ensure immediate convening of meeting of all District Development Boards so that execution of planned works could commence at the earliest and without any further delay.
