| 1 killed, 2 injure in army firing in Mahore | | |
Udhampur | May 15
Barely five hours after the visit of Chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to far flung area of Gool, a youth was killed and two others including the father of the deceased were seriously injured allegedly when army opened fire on them at Chasana Mahore area of Udhampur district, late last evening.
Sources told that the trio was retuning to home late in the evening when an ambush party of the army fired on them killing a youth on the spot while injuring other two critically.
While the locals said that they were civilians and had no militant contacts, army claimed that they were militant informers. The incident has sent a way of shock in the area. The deceased has been identified as Bahar Din while the injured include his father Dara and brother Mohammad Sahfi.
A villager told over phone, from the area that the trio were local farmers and had no militants’ link. "They had gone to a nearby village and were returning back home when they were fired upon by an ambush party", Ghulam Muhammad, a local resident said.
Police has registered a case in this regard and started investigation. The incident took place just few hours after chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad visited Gool area of the same district and addressed a mammoth public rally.
