| 2 militants arrested in north Kashmir | | | Srinagar | May 15 Police today claimed to have arrested two militants each belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen and Al-Badr from North Kashmir district of Kupwara. Police sources also claimed to have seized arms and ammunition from the possession of the militants. SSP Kupwara told that acting on specific information; Kupwara Police launched an independent operation and arrested two militants on the outskirts of Kupwara Township. Identifying the arrested militants as Shabir Ahmed Bhat alias Owais Karim son of Abdul Aziz Bhat of Wanpora Kulgam and another as Hilal Ahmed Bhat son of Ali Mohammed Bhat of Wachi Pulwama., the sources said that while former belonged Hizbul Mujahideen another was an Al-Badr man . Shabir more dreaded militant among the two, according to SSP Kupwara had joined militancy in 2001 and was active in the area since then. One AK-47 rifle, four Magazines and 110 rounds of ammunition have been recovered from Shabir's possession. One hand grenade and a wireless set had been recovered from Hilal Ahmed Meanwhile troops of 20-JAK Rifles stationed at Chuntwaliwar Machil recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition near Bohinar area near LoC, falling under the jurisdiction of police post Machil. According to defence sources, troops of 20 JALI, on a specific information conducted a search operation and recovered arms and ammunition from a hide out in Bohinar. The recovery included, One Pika gun, four AK 47 rifles, one AK rifle-Bulgaria make, Two 30 MM Mouser Pistols, Three UBGLs, 13 AK Magazines, three pistol magazine, Two Radio set Alincho, one Radio set Kenwood, 141 rounds Pika ammunition, 1415 rounds AK ammunition, 63 rounds OF Pistol ammunition and 400 grams Charas.
